Things I <3 Thursdays {Try - Colbie Caillat}

It pretty much makes my day when I get a little tip or hint that makes my life easier/happier/awesome-er in some way.  So that got me thinking...  Why not share the little (and big) things that make my life happy.  The things I love.  Enter: Things I <3 Thursdays

Not sure if you noticed, but it's already evening on a Thursday and I'm just now posting this week's Things I <3 Thursdays.  It's just been one of those days/weeks over here.  You know what I'm talking about.  We all have them.  However, I want to take a moment to share something that is very close to my heart...  Something that I love.

Do me a favor, will you?  Just watch this for a minute.  But WAIT!  There's rules: Stop what you're doing and listen.  Really listen to the words.  Promise?  Okay, proceed...

This has been my mantra lately.  And this video (as well as Colbie Caillat herself - go look up some of her other songs, she's amazing) has been so inspirational for me.  As a mother to four young kiddos, a wife and a business owner (among other things - think: chef, friend, chauffeur, maid... you get the point), life can get really overwhelming.  I have a tendency to get hyper focused on all the seemingly important things that I don't have time for in this season of life - things that really just don't matter.  They don't.  And that focus takes me away from all the wonderful things that really do matter - like being completely present with my children.  Like having a real conversation with my husband or giving him a big hug after a long day.  Things like helping a friend in need or smiling at a stranger.  Or even things like noticing the beautiful world around me and taking a moment to show appreciation.  Those kinds of things.

I don't know about you, but sometimes I feel like I'm doing so many things - and yet, I'm not doing a single one of them the way I'd really like to be.  I feel like I'm constantly coming up short.  And that's when I catch myself and switch gears.  Those feelings don't help me accomplish anything and they certainly don't help me stay focused on the things that are of importance to me.  So I stop and remember what my number one goal was for that day:  To get up and to try my best.  Key word: TRY.  Mission accomplished.

I hope you can take a moment to pause and refocus on those things that really matter most to you.  Take a moment to realize that you're doing a great job.  Hey!  You got up and you tried today.  Maybe things didn't go exactly the way you wanted them to.  Maybe you made a few mistakes.  Well, guess what?  That's okay.  Here's one of my all-time favorite quotes:

"Courage doesn't always roar.  Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I'll try again tomorrow."  - Mary Anne Radmacher

   Hugs friends.  Keep up the fantastic work.  :-)
