Things I <3 Thursdays {The Small Seed - Happy Thanksgiving}

It pretty much makes my day when I get a little tip or hint that makes my life easier/happier/awesome-er in some way.  So that got me thinking...  Why not share the little (and big) things that make my life happy.  The things I love.  Enter: Things I <3 Thursdays

Happy Thanksgiving!!  Every year I'm overwhelmed by the gratitude I feel for the many blessings I've been surrounded with, most of them being the special people in my life.  Sometimes I get so consumed with my little bubble of personal responsibilities that it becomes difficult to look outside and see the needs of others.

I want to share something that will from now on be an annual tradition in our home.  It's something my kids have really grabbed on to and something that has been a light it our lives this past month.  It's called Give with Thanks from The Small Seed.  It's perfect for Thanksgiving, but really - you could implement this month-long service challenge any time of year!

It's a FREE downloadable packet of giving goodness.  The first thing you'll want to do is email the gorgeous giving tree file over to your local Kinkos or Staples and have it printed as large as they can go.  Mine is 36" x 48" and it only cost $9 (just ignore all the wrinkles... it's in the hallway and my kids are crazy).  This my friends, is where the magic happens...

Each one of those carefully colored leaves represents an act of service.  A smile to a stranger.  A helping hand.  A paid meal.  A secret delivery of baked goods...

The packet also includes beautiful printables, like the awesome Mother Teresa quote above, as well as the leaves which you can print and cut out to have waiting for the next act of kindness.  But my favorite part of all...

... is the Give with Thanks daily service challenge.  A packet with four different weekly lessons, each one focusing on a different aspect of service and giving.  A long time ago, my husband and I established one night each week to be together as a family, so this is when I've done the lessons and it's been so much fun.  Each lesson includes a video to watch, discussion questions to ask and a short, very simple message to share.  It's truly inspirational.  The packet also includes a recipe book (for baking and sharing) too!!

As we continue on through the holidays and the shopping and parties and stress that come along with them, I hope that we can move forward with our giving and service, spreading kindness and smiles along the way.  :-)

I am not affiliated with The Small Seed and do not benefit in any way from this post, but I have truly enjoyed browsing through the site to find inspiration and activities for myself and my family.
